Lisa White, LCSW-R
Described as a driven and entrepreneurial advocate for the interest of children, Lisa C. White, LCSW, has spent her twenty-four-year career promoting the well being, self-determination and interests of vulnerable children and their families within New York City.
Following her graduation from Hampton University, passion and purpose was what she sought, but was not what she found working as an accountant. Through a chance meeting with a college friend, Ms. White was introduced to working with families in the foster care system and her world outlook was subsequently changed. Throughout her social work career, she has held positions in political and administrative functions in various capacities including service with a U.S. congressman, in local law enforcement and medical institutions. Her clinical experience includes employment at a mental health facility and two healthcare institutions for several years. At those institutions, she provided clinical services to underserved children, adolescents and adults.
Ms. White became affiliated with Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center where she remained for fifteen years. She was the catalyst for obtaining the initial grant funding for launching that institution’s Healthy Families and Early Head Start initiatives. The Early Head Start initiative is unique as it is the only Early Head Start program in the United States based in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of a hospital. She also served as the Program Administrator to both programs that provide support and education services to expectant and high-risk parenting families. Ms. White is a psychotherapist in private practice where she provides therapeutic services to a diverse clientele with a focus on trauma mitigation. She has been honored by her professional peers and is the recipient of the Emerging Social Work Leaders award conveyed by the New York Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. In addition, she has received multiple awards for her service at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center.
Given her passion for her profession, Ms. White has also been active in providing thought leadership in her field. She is a former adjunct instructor at Mercy College in New York. In addition, she has delivered presentations on numerous occasions to audiences on topics such as identifying and responding to child abuse and neglect, improving perinatal morbidity, and the medical needs of children in foster care.
Lisa White received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Hampton University. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Clinical Social Work at the Institute for Clinical Social Work in Chicago (ICSW).
